Spring Skin Reset: Nadia Discusses Top Tips for Managing Common Skin Conditions

Hi everyone! I'm Nadia Rudman, PA-C, and as we shake off the winter chill and welcome the warmer days of spring, it’s the perfect time to reset your skincare routine. While we often associate spring with sunshine and renewal, the change in season can also bring new skin challenges, especially for those with chronic conditions like eczema, rosacea, or acne. The good news? With the right tools and a few key habits, you can help your skin stay calm, clear, and glowing all season long.

Here are some of my top tips to help you manage common spring skin concerns:

1. Ease Eczema Flare-Ups
Springtime allergens like pollen can be a big trigger for eczema. If you notice increased redness, itching, or dry patches, try switching to a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and moisturizer. Look for ceramides and colloidal oatmeal, which help repair the skin barrier.

If over-the-counter remedies aren’t working, we can discuss prescription topical treatments and a customized regimen that may offer long-term relief.

2. Fight Back Against Seasonal Acne
Increased sweat, humidity, and time outdoors can clog pores and lead to breakouts, especially if you’re using heavier products leftover from your winter routine.
I recommend:

  • Lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers

  • Daily sunscreen (yes, even if it’s cloudy!)

  • Washing your face after sweating or outdoor activity

Don’t hesitate to schedule a visit for stubborn or cystic acne—we can create a custom treatment plan that may include topical medications, oral therapies, or professional treatments like chemical peels or laser.

3. Don't Skip the Sunscreen
Warmer weather means more sun exposure, and protecting your skin is a must! I recommend using a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, applied every morning and reapplied every two hours if you're outside.

Bonus tip: Mineral-based sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are great for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

4. Simplify Your Routine
Seasonal transitions are a great time to take inventory of your skincare products. Toss anything that’s expired or causing irritation, and focus on gentle, consistent care:

  • Cleanse

  • Moisturize

  • Protect

It doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. I believe in finding and sticking with a routine that works for your skin type, and I’m here to help guide that process.
