Meet Our Newest Provider: Get to Know Meighan Blanco, MSN, RN, FNP-BC
We're excited to welcome Meighan Blanco, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, to the Findley Dermatology team! With more than 15 years of dermatology experience caring for patients throughout New England, Meighan brings exceptional clinical expertise and a warm, compassionate approach to every appointment.
We sat down with Meighan to learn more about what inspired her career, what patients can expect during a visit, and a few fun facts outside the office.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in dermatology?
My journey to dermatology started in nursing, where I realized helping patients with skin conditions impacts their health, confidence, and quality of life. Skin issues can profoundly affect emotions, and I enjoy helping patients find solutions, feel better, and improve over time. Dermatology combines medicine, education, prevention, and ongoing patient relationships, making it highly rewarding.
2. What do you enjoy most about caring for patients?
The relationships. I enjoy getting to know my patients and working together to develop treatment plans that fit their individual needs and goals. Whether someone is coming in for a routine skin exam or managing a chronic skin condition, I want them to know they have someone who listens, educates, and supports them every step of the way.
3. How would you describe your approach to patient care?
I believe every patient deserves to be heard and respected. My approach is collaborative; I want patients to understand their diagnosis, feel comfortable asking questions, and leave with confidence in their treatment plan. Education is a central part of every visit because informed patients are empowered patients.
4. What advice do you find yourself giving patients most often?
Consistency is key. Healthy skin isn't about finding a miracle product; it's about building simple, sustainable habits. I also remind patients not to ignore changes in their skin. If something is new, changing, or doesn't seem right, it's always better to have it evaluated sooner rather than later.
5. What types of skin conditions are you especially passionate about treating?
I truly enjoy the variety that dermatology offers. I love caring for patients with acne, eczema, psoriasis, and other chronic skin conditions because helping them achieve healthier skin can have such a positive impact on their daily lives. I'm also passionate about skin cancer prevention and early detection and about helping patients understand how to protect their skin.
6. What do you hope every patient feels when they leave your office?
I hope every patient leaves feeling listened to, cared for, and confident that they have a clear plan moving forward. Visiting a healthcare provider can feel overwhelming at times, so I want every patient to know they have a partner in their care.
7. What drew you to Findley Dermatology?
Dr. Findley has built something truly special. From the moment I learned more about her vision for the practice, it was clear that Findley Dermatology is committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care while treating every patient like family. Dr. Findley's passion for excellence is reflected in every member of the team, and that positive, collaborative culture is evident the moment you walk through the door. It's incredibly exciting to join a practice that continues to grow while never losing sight of what matters most: providing outstanding care and building meaningful relationships with patients.
8. When you're not in the office, how do you like to spend your time?
Outside of the office, you'll usually find me on the go! I live in Barrington with my husband, Greg, our daughter, Avery (13), our son, Crosby (11), and our big fluffy dog, Phil. Much of our time is spent traveling to lacrosse, basketball, and soccer tournaments, cheering on the kids from the sidelines. I also enjoy training for endurance events, including marathons, triathlons, and this year's Save The Bay Swim. Whenever I have downtime, I love traveling, spending time on the water, relaxing with friends, and lately, I've become completely hooked on learning Mahjong!
9. Tell us a few fun facts about yourself!
I have a few fun stories! Early in my career, I worked with the International Olympic Committee during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. During my dermatology fellowship, I also had the unique opportunity to care for patients in a leprosy clinic, an experience that broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for global healthcare. And here's the funny contradiction: even though I'm training to swim the Save The Bay Swim this year, I'm actually terrified of swimming in the ocean!
10. If you could leave patients with one piece of skincare advice, what would it be?
Don't wait to take care of your skin. Whether it's scheduling regular skin exams, protecting your skin from the sun, or seeking treatment for a condition that's been bothering you, early care often leads to the best outcomes.
